Black and White TV - or a Trip Down Memory Lane

It's time for a few chuckles - Lord knows, there's little enough in the world today...so read on, especially those of you who are a bit older.

Still working on my jewelry - come see at Lindasudimack.artfire.com - call me directly to purchase and I'm being very generous with my discounts. I will not have anything new on there until after we move - John packed my equipment!!! So what's there are all things I really don't want to move.

Subject: Black and White TV

BLACK AND WHITE TV
"Good night and God bless."

Go all the way to the bottom past the pictures… I think you'll enjoy it.
Black and White

Black and White (Under age 40? You won't understand.)

You could hardly see for all the snow,
Spread the rabbit ears as far as they go.
Pull a chair up to the TV set,
'Good Night, David. Good Night, Chet.'

My Mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread mayo on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning.

My Mom used to defrost hamburger on the counter and I used to eat it raw sometimes, too. Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag, not in ice pack coolers, but I can't remember getting e.coli.

Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake instead of a pristine
pool (talk about boring), no beach closures then.

The term cell phone would have conjured up a phone in a jail cell, and a pager was the school PA system.

We all took gym, not PE...and risked permanent injury with a pair of high top Ked's (only worn in gym) instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors. I can't recall any injuries but they must have happened because they tell us how much safer we are now.

Flunking gym was not an option.... even for stupid kids! I
guess PE must be much harder than gym.

Speaking of school, we all said prayers and sang the national anthem, and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention.

We must have had horribly damaged psyches. What an archaic health system we had then... Remember school nurses? Ours wore a hat and everything.

I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of myself.

I just can't recall how bored we were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations.

We played 'king of the hill' on piles of gravel left
on vacant construction sites, and when we got hurt, Mom pulled out the 48-cent bottle of mercurochrome (kids liked it better because it didn't sting like iodine did) and then we got our butt spanked.

Now it's a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10-day dose of a $49 bottle of antibiotics, and then Mom calls the attorney to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat.

We didn't act up at the neighbor's house either; because if we did we got our butt spanked there and then we got our butt spanked again when we got home.

I recall Donny Reynolds from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop, just before he fell off.
Little did his Mom know that she could have owned our house.
Instead, she picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof. It was a neighborhood run amuck.

To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family.

How could we possibly have known that
we needed to get into group therapy and anger management classes?

We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills, that we didn't even notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac!

How did we ever survive?

LOVE TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA; AND TO ALL WHO DIDN'T, SORRY FOR WHAT YOU MISSED. I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING!

Pass this to someone and remember that life's most simple pleasures are very often the best.

Maine's New Main Man

Another email that I couldn't resist posting. Governor  Le Page is a breathe of fresh air...common sense never sounded so good....read and share. Again I apologize for not knowing how to fix my spacing problem - just arrow down to where the article starts.

Maine's new
governor

Meet
Maine 's New
Governor
 --- In case you haven't
heard about this guy before, his name will stick in your
mind!

The new Maine
Governor, Paul
LePage
is making New Jersey 's Chris Christie look timid.
He isn't afraid to say what he thinks. Judging by the comments, every time
he opens his mouth, his popularity goes
up.

He brought down the house at
his inauguration when he shook his fist toward the media box and said,
"You're on notice! I've inherited a financially troubled State to run.
Observe...cover what we do...but don't whine if I don't waste time
responding to your every whim just for your
amusement."

During his campaign for
Governor, he was talking to commercial fishermen who are struggling
because of federal fisheries rules. They complained that 0bama brought his
family to Bar Harbor and AcadiaNational Park for a long Labor Day holiday
and found time to meet with union leaders, but wouldn't talk to the
fishermen. LePage replied, "I'd tell him to go to hell and get out of my
State." The Lame Stream Media crucified LePage, but he jumped 6 points in
the pre-election poll.

The Martin Luther King
incident was a political sandbag, which brought him national exposure. The
'lame stream' media crucified him, but word on the street is very
positive. The NAACP specifically asked LePage to spend MLK Day visiting
black inmates at the Maine State Prison. He told them that he would meet
with ALL inmates, regardless of race, if he were to visit the prison. The
NAACP balked and then put out a news release claiming falsely that he
refused to participate in any MLK events. He read it in the paper for the
1st time the next morning while being driven to an event and went
ballistic because none of the reporters had called him for comment before
running the NAACP release.

He arrived at that event
& said in front of a TV camera, "If they want to play the race card on
me they can kiss my ass", and he reminded them that he has an adopted
black son from Jamaica and that he attended the local MLK Breakfast every
year that he was mayor of Waterville. (He started his morning there on MLK
Day.)

He then stated that there's
a right way and a wrong way to meet with the Governor, and he put all
special interests on notice that press releases, media leaks, and all
demonstrations would prove to be the wrong way. He said any other group,
which acted like the NAACP could expect to be at the bottom of the
Governor's priority list!

He then did the following,
and judging from local radio talk show callers, his popularity increased
even more: The State employees union complained because he waited until 3
P.M. before closing State offices and facilities and sending non-emergency
personnel home during the last blizzard. The prior Governor would often
close offices for the day with just a forecast before the first flakes.
(Each time the State closes for snow, it costs the taxpayers about $1
million in wages for no work in return.)

LePage was CEO of the
Marden's chain of discount family bargain retail stores before election as
governor. He noted that State employees getting off work early could still
find lots of retail stores open to shop. So, he put the State employees on
notice by announcing: "If Marden's is open, Maine is
open!"

He told State employees: "We
live in Maine in the winter, for heaven's
sake, and should know how to drive in it. Otherwise, apply for a State job
in Florida !"

Governor LePage symbolizes
what America needs; Refreshing politicians
who aren't self-serving and who exhibit common
sense.

THE LAW
IS THE LAW!

I really love this
one.

This is one of the better
e-mails I have received in a long time! I hope this makes its way around
the USA several times
over!!!!! HERE
IS WHAT Governor LaPage said,

"THE LAW IS THE LAW So "if"
the US government determines that it
is against the law for the words "under God" to be on our money, then, so
be it.

And "if" that same
government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on
a government installation, then, so be it.

I say, "so be it," because I
would like to be a law abiding US citizen

I say, "so be it," because I
would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make
good decisions.

I would like to think that
those people have the American public's best interests at
heart.

BUT, he said, "YOU KNOW WHAT
ELSE I'D LIKE?

Since we
can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in
Government buildings, I don't believe Government (Federal, State and
Local) and its employees should participate in Easter and Christmas
celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from
many facets of American life.

I'd like
my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter.
After all, it's just another day.

I'd like
the" US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday,
Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays." After all, it's just
another day.

I'd like
the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about
getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another
day.

I'm
thinking a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government
offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter.
It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other
day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically
correct."

In
fact...I think our government should work on Sundays (AFTER ALL, It was
initially set aside for worshipping God) because, AFTER ALL, our
government says that it should be Just ANOTHER
DAY...."

What do you all think???? If
this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will stop
giving in to the "minority opinions" and begin, once again, to represent
the "majority" of ALL of the American people.

SO BE IT....Please Dear
Lord, Give us the help needed to keep you in our country! 'Amen' and
'Amen'!

If this
gets around the country a few times, I believe we all will see a better
day!

Truly Scary - The Council of Islamic Idelogy

Okay - you all know that I'm not very good at this techy shit...thus the huge gap here so the article does not over lap on the stuff on the right side of the screen..  SORRY! ! ! In any case, this article is truly scary ... so these idiots do not realize that they have all sprung from a woman's womb??? No more women ... no more idiot men like these.

So arrow on down til you find the article....please

Islamabad - Sharia Correspondent: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) concluded their 192nd meeting on Thursday with the ruling that women are un-Islamic and that their mere existence contradicted Sharia and the will of Allah. As the meeting concluded CII Chairman Maulana Muhammad Khan Shirani noted that women by existing defied the laws of nature, and to protect Islam and the Sharia women should be forced to stop existing as soon as possible. The announcement comes a couple of days after CII’s 191st meeting where they dubbed laws related to minimum marriage age to be un-Islamic.
After declaring women to be un-Islamic, Shirani explained that there were actually two kinds of women – haraam and makrooh. “We can divide all women in the world into two distinct categories: those who are haraam and those who are makrooh. Now the difference between haraam and makrooh is that the former is categorically forbidden while the latter is really really disliked,” Shirani said.
He further went on to explain how the women around the world can ensure that they get promoted to being makrooh, from just being downright haraam. “Any woman that exercises her will is haraam, absolutely haraam, and is conspiring against Islam and the Ummah, whereas those women who are totally subservient can reach the status of being makrooh. Such is the generosity of our ideology and such is the endeavour of Muslim men like us who are the true torchbearers of gender equality,” the CII chairman added.
Officials told Khabaristan Today that the council members deliberated over various historic references related to women and concluded that each woman is a source of fitna and a perpetual enemy of Islam. They also decided that by restricting them to their subordinate, bordering on slave status, the momineen and the mujahideen can ensure that Islam continues to be the religion of peace, prosperity and gender equality.
Responding to a question one of the officials said that international standards of gender equality should not be used if they contradict Islam or the constitution of Pakistan that had incorporated Islam and had given sovereignty to Allah. “We don’t believe in western ideals, and nothing that contradicts Islam should ever be paid heed. In any case by giving women the higher status of being makrooh, it’s us Muslims who have paved the way for true, Sharia compliant feminism,” the official said.
The CII meeting also advised the government that to protect Islam women’s right to breathe should also be taken away from them. “Whether a woman is allowed to breathe or not be left up to her husband or male guardian, and no woman under any circumstance whatsoever should be allowed to decide whether she can breathe or not,” Shirani said.

Rules to Live By

Got this in an email and thought that it was worth sharing.  Make sure that you visit my shop and see what I do with my time when I'm not blogging.

Subject: 20 Rules to live (from the morning paper)

1-- Bring your sense of humor with you at all times...Invite friends with a sense of humor, too.  Keep this in mind in going to hospitals, weight loss centers,
and funerals, as well as going to work, coming home--waking up or going to sleep.

2--If it's worth crying over, it's worth laughing over. Keep a perspective that allows you to see the wider and longer view--
The very things that is upsetting, might one day become a terrific story.

3--People don't really care what you are wearing!!

4--If you're a woman, don't be a sissy.  It's okay for girls, but behaving like a simpering whimpering, fretful adult is unacceptable, no matter what your gender is.
If you're anxious, scared and feeling powerless, you don't need to change your "behavior", You need to change your LIFE.

5--Never lie.  Cheat the devil--tell the Truth.

6--There is one exception to the above.  Never say a baby looks like a sausage wearing a hat--the parents will never forgive you.
Sometimes a situation makes telling the truth not wholly necessary....To ease the pain, just say "The Baby looks happy"

7--Never use a passive voice or say "It will get done".----Just say, "I'll do it" and offer a deadline, and be sure to make the deadline..

8--No peak is ever safe.  Only plateaus offer a place to rest.  Are you ready to stay on a plateau or are you climbing??
Decide and pack your bags accordingly.

9--LOVE changes as we age.  When we are young we fall for an unattainable ideal.  When we are old, we fall in love:  "Sure he has only one eye in the middle of his forehead,"
-----"BUT he never forgets my birthday."

10-  Power is the ability to persuade stupid people to do intelligent things, and intelligent people to do stupid things.  This is why "Power" is dangerous.

11-Sherlock Holmes said.. "Work is the best antidote to sorrow, my dear Watson".. Listen to Mr. Holmes.

12- We all want short cuts to weight loss, Love, and prosperity---not necessarily in that order.  But apart from being born into an adoring family,
getting good genes, and inheriting acres of mineral rights---there are no shortcuts.  We all have to WORK at it.

13--Help 'the dramatically self-pitying' to understand that they are not, by definition, sympathetic or interesting.
Encourage them to address topics other than themselves

14--Be Kind--not Nice.   Kindness is both intentional and meaningful. Acts of Kindness require generosity, emotional and  otherwise.
Perfunctory and superficial Niceness is, too often, mere window-dressing.

15--Poor workers blame their tools.  It's not the fault of the computer, the school, the train, the government or poor cell phone
reception....Take Responsibility.

16--You know how there are times when you think you're asleep---half listening to TV or conversation---only to discover you were
unconscious???  One part of your head will swear it's awake, but when you snap out of it, you realize you were wholly elsewhere?   Sometimes that happens in life..
Sometimes the only way you know you are truly in love, in the wrong profession, being a moron at parties or a great poet---is when you Snap Out of It.

17--You can always Stop what you are doing.

18--You should either be doing something useful or you should be playing.
You should not be thinking about playing while you're at work, or thinking about Work, while you are out having fun.
Compartmentalizing your Life is not inevitably a bad thing.
It's easy to waste pleasure by feeling guilty and waste potentially effective time by feeling resentful.

19--Be aware that a safety net, if pulled too tight, easily turns into a noose.
Don't trade independence for security without being aware of the consequences.

20-- Some day, you will die.  Until that day, you should do everything possible to enjoy life.

Newsweek Cover Story ... a Surprise, to Say The Least

This is surprising not just for it's content, but most especially for the venue.  We dropped our subscription to "Newsweek" years ago because it had become such a liberal rag, and now they do this...WOWSER....I am totally blown away! ! !

The Cover of Newsweek Magazine
On Wed, Sep 18, 2013 at 11:01 AM,

AMAZING !!! The Cover of  Newsweek Magazine=

cid:1.429276395@web184805.mail.gq1.yahoo.com
Finally, Matt Patterson and Newsweek speak out about Obama. This is timely and tough As many of you know, Newsweek has a reputation for being extremely liberal. The fact that their editor saw fit to print the following article about Obama and the one that appears in the latest Newsweek,  makes this a truly amazing event, and a news story in and of itself.  At last, the truth about our President and his agenda are starting to trickle through the“protective wall” built around him by the liberal media...

'Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
[he fell down & broke his crown]...All the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn't put Humpty together again....'
I Too Have Become Disillusioned
By Matt Patterson (Newsweek Columnist – Opinion Writer)

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League, despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer;" a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, less often did he vote "present"); and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.

He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator. And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor;" a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?

Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal: To be sure, no white candidate who had    close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberal Dom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were 'a bit' extreme, he was given a pass. Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass - held to a lower standard - because of the color of his skin.

Podhoretz continues: And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) "non-threatening," all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?

Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon - affirmative action. Not in the legal sense, of course. But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws
and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.

Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on
the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don't care if these minority students fail; liberals aren't around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self-esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist. Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color
of his skin - that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't racism, then nothing is.

And that is what America did to Obama. True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for
the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois ; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary.

What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks? In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualificationsnonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool character. Those people – conservatives included - ought now to be deeply embarrassed.

The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and that's when he has his Teleprompters in front of him; when the prompter is absent he can barely think or speak at all. Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth -
it's all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has failed over and over again for 100 years (An example is his 2012 campaign speeches which are almost word for word his 2008 speeches)

And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles. Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess. Remember, he wanted the job, campaigned for the task. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence (The other day he actually came out and said no one could have done anything to get our economy and country back on track). But really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?

In short: our president is a small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense. It could not have gone otherwise with such an impostor in the Oval Office.

I'm Tired

According to my friend who sent this to me - Bill Crosby wrote this.  I haven't checked that out because no matter who wrote it, it's excellent and should be required reading for every American.
Please try to have all your friends read this - if we don't get some of this stuff under control now, we are rapidly approaching the point where we will not be "allowed" to fix it.  Scary thoughts.

This should be
required reading for every man, woman and child

"I'm 83 and I'm Tired"

I'm 83 . Except for brief period in the 50's when I was doing my National Service, I've worked hard since I was 17. Except for some serious health challenges, I put in 50-hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly 40
years. I made a reasonable salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very tired.

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to
earn it.

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor";
                                               of Muslims rioting over some slight offense;

                                                of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't"believers";

of Muslims burning schools for girls;
of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery";
of Muslims mutilating the
genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a law tells them to.

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in Australia , New Zealand UK, America and Canada , while no one from these countries are allowed to fund a church,
synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country to teach love and tolerance..

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate.

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught.

I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination
or big-whatever for their problems.

I'm also tired and fed up with seeing young men and women in their teens and early 20's be-deck themselves in tattoos and face studs, thereby making
themselves un-employable and claiming money from the Government.

Yes, I'm tired . But I'm also glad to be 83.. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my
granddaughter and their children. Thank God I'm on the way out and not on
the way in.

There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!

" I'm 83 and I'm tired. If you don't forward this you are part of the problem"

God Created Children

Okay - this doesn't quite fit - and I'm not techie enough to fix it = but I sooooooooo wanted to share. It put a smile on my face today and I needed one and thought that some of you might too.

This is it! Smile;  we all know that Grand kids are the BEST!!!!!!!

GOD CREATED CHILDREN
(AND IN THE PROCESS, GRANDCHILDREN!)

To those of us who have children in our lives,
whether they are our own, grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, or students...
here is something to make you chuckle.

Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve.

And the first thing he said was 'DON'T! '

'Don't what ?' Adam replied.

'Don't eat the forbidden fruit.' God said.

'Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit!'

' No Way! '
'Yes way! '
'Do NOT eat the fruit! ' said God.

'Why? '

'Because I am your Father and I said so ! ' God replied, wondering
why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants.

A few minutes later, God saw His children
having an apple break and He was ticked !
'Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit? ' God asked.

'Uh huh,' Adam replied.

'Then why did you? ' said the Father.

'I don't know,' said Eve.
'She started it! ' Adam said.

'Did not ! '
'Did too! '
'DID NOT! '

Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own.
Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom
and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself.

If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think
it would be a piece of cake for you ?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT !
1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.

3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat
word for word what you shouldn't have said.

5. The main purpose of holding children's parties
is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own.

6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY:

Be nice to your kids..
They will choose your nursing home one day!

AND FINALLY:

IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE,
DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

'TAKE TWO ASPIRIN' AND 'KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN'!!!!!

Quick, send this on to ten people within the next five minutes.
Nothing will happen if you don't, but if you do,
Ten people will be laughing!!!
